Alan is a widely-recognised, accredited and leading independent assurance reviewer, with proven in-depth experience across all stages of program and project reviews. Alan has contributed to a vast number of assurance reviews, whilst working in the Australia Public Service, prior to his current career as an independent assurance reviewer and finance/ budget expert.
Prior to being an independent assurance reviewer, Alan worked in the Australian and New Zealand Commonwealth Treasuries, the Office of Asset Sales and IT Outsourcing (OASITO), and the Australian Commonwealth departments of Defence and Finance. Alan has extensive experience undertaking analysis and providing policy, financial and project advice to Executives, Ministers, and Cabinet, with top-tier experience analysing submissions and new policy proposals and providing advice to agencies on ‘how to’ minimise implementation risks, manage costs, and how to align proposals more closely with other government initiatives, and with the government’s objectives.
Alan has led teams undertaking complex ICT procurements in Defence and OASITO, delivered elements of the national budget, including economic forecasts and estimates, analysed policy proposals, and provided written (and in New Zealand, oral) briefing to Ministers and Cabinet.
Alan holds a Bachelor of Economics (Hons.) Industrial, Labour, International, Micro and Macro Economics and Anthropology, he is an accredited Gateway Assurance™ review team member, Commonwealth Gateway reviewer, DTA Delivery Confidence Assessment reviewer, and certified NSW Digital Assurance Expert Reviewer. Alan holds NV2 national security clearance.
